Welcome back foodie!
Thought you might like to see a couple of sunshiny pictures from
my family BBQ on this summer Sunday past, with my lovely sunshiny boys!
my family BBQ on this summer Sunday past, with my lovely sunshiny boys!
I really thought I had a lot more pictures than this, but it turns out I was too occupied actually eating burgers and potato salad to photograph it, so here's my adorable nephew enjoying his chicken nuggets instead!
The whole clan enjoyed a beautiful sunny afternoon together in the garden, barbecuing, baby-cradling and beer-guzzling to our hearts' content.
The shindig was in honour of my dad's birthday, and he loves nothing more than when we are all together and he can get his BBQ out to cook delicious goodies for us all. My mum is an amazing cook (I learned so much of what I know from her!) but now she's a grandma she likes an easy life, so we tend to be treated to the best that M&S or Waitrose has to offer. We had delicious Aberdeen Angus beef burgers, Heck sausages, chorizo sausages, cajun marinated chicken, homemade coleslaw (mum's is the best I've EVER tasted), baby charlotte potato salad, spicy chilli tortilla chips and a multitude of dips, sauces, bread buns and tasty salad tidbits. The Coors Light and Pinto Grigio flowed freely, as well as conversation and general memory making.
My two favourite boys bonded over football and shoe throwing competitions. My eldest niece drew amazing cartoons with a talent way beyond her years whilst playing weird Japanese game music on her DS. My youngest niece smiled mostly, only descending into screaming hysterics when she was hungry. Or wet. Or tired. Or couldn't see her mum. Such trials of the 12th week of life!
Afternoons like this are what life is all about.
Surround yourself with the people you love, doing the things that you love with great food and drink and all is well in the world.
The so called "Happy Place".
~ Til next time, may your carbon be the coating on barbecued goods. Col ~
